Planting trees can enhance your school's outdoor learning space by beautifying the school grounds and improving the air quality. To commemorate the first annual Community Involvement Day, Atlantic Broadband invites your school to be a participating location for our first annual “Planting Community Roots” initiative. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, the largest non-profit tree planting organization, Atlantic Broadband employees will volunteer to plant trees on September 25, 2021 at local schools in the communities they serve, at no cost!
This year Atlantic Broadband, with its parent company Cogeco, is celebrating its first company-wide Community Involvement Day, an annual event that will invite employees in both the United States and Canada to volunteer their time on one day in all regions in support of the communities served by the company. This year’s theme is “Planting Community Roots.”
Atlantic Broadband is partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation to ensure the trees planted are compatible with the existing plant life and right for the school's hardiness zone. Arbor Day Foundation will work with local nurseries to select responsibly sourced trees for Atlantic Broadband's tree planting event.
Atlantic Broadband is proud to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation's Community Canopy program for our first annual tree planting event. The Arbor Day Foundation is the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit conservation and education organization with a focus solely on tree planting. With over a million members, donors, and partners supporting their program, they have planted over 25 million trees globally in an effort to help make our world greener and healthier.
The USDA.gov website states "It is proposed that one large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people"
U.S. Department of Agriculture
Trees lower surface and air temperatures by providing shade by 20–45°F cooler than unshaded areas.
Your school can be among the first in the world to earn recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation through the new Tree Campus K-12 program which inspires the next generation of tree stewards through experiences that bring benefits of trees to both inside and outside the classroom. Caring for the trees planted by Atlantic Broadband will bring your school one step closer to earning special recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.
The Hands-On Experience includes providing students with an opportunity to plant, nurture, or celebrate trees in the community. The goal is to demonstrate the importance of trees in the community through experience. Caring for the trees planted by Atlantic Broadband will get you one step closer to earning recognition from Arbor Day Foundation!
An Arbor Day observance provides a golden opportunity to educate the school community on the benefits of the trees on their campus and in the community. The Arbor Day observance can be held on the school grounds or in conjunction with another local organization such as a municipal tree program or a local tree-focused nonprofit group.
